Every year, our schools throughout the diocese enter into the spirit of Lent by focusing on a particular cause that benefits those in most need. Past year's efforts were hugely successful. Through the generosity of many,

* Maris Stella and Nkosiyetu schools in South Africa
* St. Joseph Mission in Haiti
* Tsunami Relief

received both money and prayers of support. Committing to our faith through service is an essential mark of Catholic Schools and we are proud of that committment.

The season of Lent is an opportunity for those who profess faith in Christ to go with Him "into the desert." During Lent, we pray, fast and give alms so as to deepen our relationship with God and one another.

CYSS has chosen as this year’s Lenten Project to focus  on a mission located in Cuernavaca , Mexico .  One of our Tiffin Franciscan sisters, Sr. Margaret Slowick, is currently living and ministering to the people of this impoverished region of our world.  Some may recall Sr. Margaret from our office where she worked as Director of Campus Ministry.
