The currency in South Africa is called the Rand. The current exchange rate between the U.S. dollar and the South African Rand is approximately R7.97 to $1.
SCHOOL FEES
School fees range from R25 to R250 per child per year. Cost to pay school fees for one child - $3.12 to $31.20

SCHOOL UNIFORMS
The cost of a complete school uniform is between R 500 ($62.50) and R 600 ($75).
A complete uniform includes:

Boys: trousers, shirt, shoes, socks
Girls: tunic (jumper), blouse, shoes, socks

If you include a jersey (sweater) it would be an additional R 80 ($ 10).
It can get very cold in South Africa in the winter, so the children wear "track suits" to school for warmth. A "track suit" costs R 100 ($12.50).
FEEDING SCHEMES (School lunch programs)
A story from Sr. Mary Margaret: “A child from one of the Feeding Schemes was not eating his food. When asked why, he said, ‘I’m saving it to take home and share with my mother. She is hungry too.’ “
Any amount raised for the Feeding Schemes would help greatly.
