FROM THE
SUPERINTENDENT…
The format of our “new” Principals’ Bulletin continues to evolve. At the top of this page you will find helpful links for additional information. Please click on the links on a regular basis, especially for upcoming events, professional development opportunities, etc. Also, from time to time we will have flyers, registration forms, and supplemental information that will be referenced in the Bulletin. The links above (or ones provided in the Bulletin article itself) will take you to the proper page on our web site where you will find the necessary information. For now, some additional information is also included with this e-mail as attachments. Eventually, we will do away with most e-mail attachments to the Bulletin. Instead, most additional information will be put on our website (accessed through the above links) where it will be archived for future reference.
We will continue the monthly Teachers’ Bulletin in the same format as described above. The Teachers’ Bulletin will normally come to Principals by e-mail on the second Friday of each month. (Look for the first one on September 14.) We will ask Principals to forward it to the teachers. Eventually, we hope to have the e-mail addresses of all of our teachers. We will then e-mail the Teachers’ Bulletin directly to them.

ASP
ALLOCATION:
The first ASP payment was sent to your local public school
districts this past week. There are three payments. The first two
payments are based on an estimated per pupil allocation of $636.78 x 25%.
The final payment in February will be adjusted based on this year’s
nonpublic ADM. Assuming that the nonpublic enrollment count will drop,
the final per pupil allocation should be higher than the above amount.

TEACHING CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS:
Are you looking for good professional development resources
for teachers to support the development of instructional strategies to be used
to teach critical thinking skills? CYSS has purchased an ASCD
Professional Development tool called “Learning to Think…Thinking to
Learn” which contains a CD and User Guide that could be used by faculties
to help them when implementing their school’s improvement plan; helping
students dig deeper and develop skills to help them become better thinkers; as
well as provide teachers with a rationale as to why teaching thinking skills
through content is critical. The Users Guide can be used with an
individual teacher, a small group, or whole faculty. If a principal is
